Completing the square to solve quadratics

In response to whether completing the square is a good way to solve quadratics is a matter of personal choice. It is a valid way of doing it. You must remember that square root of a number has 2 solutions (the positive and negative result.

example (x-2)^2 -9 = 0
               (x-2)^2 = 9
solve x-2 = 3 or -3
therefore x = 5 or -1 these are the roots of the equation as well when written as coordinates.
