In response to whether completing the square is a good way to solve quadratics is a matter of personal choice. It is a valid way of doing it. You must remember that square root of a number has 2 solutions (the positive and negative result.
example (x-2)^2 -9 = 0
(x-2)^2 = 9
solve x-2 = 3 or -3
therefore x = 5 or -1 these are the roots of the equation as well when written as coordinates.

Bivariate Data
Good luck on the test tomorrow!
here are the bivariate notes from today. Remember that this topic is about reading tables carefully looking for units that may be in text above. the bivariate information requires you to be familar with the terminology and use it in justifying answers. Correlation, regression line are key concepts. The book SUPERCRUNCHERS is a great read for context in this topic!

Quadratic Solving
After the poor results from the last test the blog will have some practice questions and notes covering quadratics, functions and algebra manipulation strategies.
here are some links to practise factorising.
BBC bitesize activity
changing formulae notes
General algebra skills
ixl practise (do all algebra topics)
Attached are the notes from solving quadratics

Finance
Start collecting information on credit cards, investments and loans
Key words are depreciation and inflation. You need to be able to calculate percentage increase/decrease in single calculations by the end of this chapter.
Try this game for something different
percentage change game
other ideas include watching the video on spreadsheets from the classpad website and the finance sections as this is one of the tasks you be set for homework.
